Application: SLOPE REINFORCEMENT |
General |
For new construction, the cost of fill, right-of-way, and other consideration may make a steeper slope desirable.
Problem |
Even if foundation conditions are satisfactory, the unreinforced slopes may be unstable at the desired slope angle. Additionally, surface sloughing and erosion can occur at the edges of the slope.

Solution |
In order to built steep slopes with an acceptable factor of safety to the construction needs either a good quality soil or horizontal reinforcing layers to prevent a sliding failure. Multiple layers of geotextile/geogrid placed in a slope during construction or reconstruction will reinforce the soil and provide increased slope stability.

Without geotextile steep slopes may collapse |

With geotextile stable earth retaining structure are easily constructed |
Performance benefits of material |
- Increases the safety factor of marginally stable slopes
- Allows the use of less select in-situ soils as fill Reduces the amount of fill material and land required and hence the cost
- Allows construction of wider roads, without increasing necessary right-of-way, by replacing gentle slopes with reinforced, steep slopes
- Allows the construction of vertical soil structures

Areas of Application |
- Reinforced soil walls and slopes
- Road embankment
- Widening of existing road embankment
- Bridge approach and abutments
- Repair of failed slopes
